Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I received a default judgement for a vehicle in the state of Texas. The defendant was given 10 days to respond, return the vehicle or pay the said amount due. The Defendant still has yet to reply or return the vehicle. The local police department will not allow us to report the vehicle stolen, as they state that this is a civil matter. What is the best recourse in this situation as the vehicle has not been returned. Please advise. Do we have to go back to court and file a civil suit against Defendant or ask for a summary of judgement from the issuing judge? Please advise. Wages can not be garnished in the state of Texas, any other options available? HELP!

It is difficult to say without reviewing the judgment. You should have an attorney review the judgment to advise you on your options.

To enforce the judgment it would appear that you can take possession of the vehicle or try to retrieve the amount due by garnishing non exempt assets such as money in bank accounts, investment property and so forth.
