Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I recently bailed a friend out of jail. Thr court date keeps getting reset, how long can this go on? Am I still responsible for this party, until they attend court? Also, on the forms, they wanted to know the make of my car, license plate, my address, all of this stuff. They said if the party does not show up, then I will owe the full amount. I put a down payment on it, can they come after me or my car?

A criminal case can take a year or more to come to a conclusion. Since you signed on to this defendant's bond, you are responsible until the case is over. If the defendant ends up jumping bond or gets his bond revoked, then the bonding company will certainly come after you for the money.

If, however, you have a problem with your attachment to this bond, you can request to be removed from the bond. The bonding company will likely get off the bond entirely or require someone else to fill your place.
