Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Recently, my daughter age 17 was caught stealing. She received a misdeomer clas B fine. There was a young man who was with her but had no knowledge to her foolishness. They both wheere taken into custody and fined with a class B. My question is, how do we help this young man out with his record and will this affect her going to college?

Am concerned that you stated she was fined. Based on her age, if she had a clean record, she may have qualified for pretrial diversion or deferred adjudication, which leads to a dismissal of her case. If she has a conviction for theft, it is a crime of moral turpitude. It may deny her access to many colleges, financial aid, and later employment. If this occurred recently, please consult with an attorney to determine if the case can be re-opened, for a more appropriate outcome.
Also, only with the advice of counsel, she can advise the prosecutor THROUGH his lawyer (which he needs) of the young man's lack of knowledge and thus intent.
Based on what you have written, your question depends upon the outcome of the criminal case. You should really discuss your options with a local law firm to ensure that your daughter's rights and interests are fully protected. My firm will be more than happy to disucss your options.
