Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I recieved a letter from my childs father to appear in court . it was stated a "formal letter" and says that failure to appear could result in a subpoena. I am willing to attend, but whats the difference in a formal request vs a subpoena and im not a party in his case so what would I be needed for?

In Texas, there is no "formal letter" to appear. You do not have to appear unless you are subpoenaed.
