How can we reduce sentence time?
Or what could the inmate do?

There really is no reduction of time. It would require the agreement of 2 of the 3 following officials: THE DA, THE sheriff, and / or THE judge. It only really happens if the person is dying in prison & costing the prison lots of money and can be released to the VA or if the person cooperates A LOT in prison making new cases.
An inmate can stay out of trouble, participate in programs, and hire a parole lawyer to help them make parole as early as possible.
