Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Re-locating while on probation

I have kind of a general question I was wondering if you could answer. If someone is leaving somewhere and they're put on probation for a felony (I believe it's battery charges), is it possible to move to another state and transfer P.O.s to where they're moving to? I've heard yes and I've heard no. I know you don't have any specifics, but I was just wondering if it was at all possible so I could look into it further.

Thank you

Re: Re-locating while on probation

Yes it is possible. You must have the permission of your curent prob officer to do so, however. He can walk you through the procedure.

Yes, it is possible. If you are moving from one state to another, you must apply for an interstate compact.

Interstate compacts CAN allow you to move out of the state, but they are subject to

restrictions and conditions ... the most important of which is that the RECEIVING state accept

the compact (they agree to supervise the probationer).

Good Luck!
