Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Relocating while on Probation
I was only wodering if it is possible and/or legal to move from one state to another while on probation. I've heard it wasn't, but then someone else said that you could talk to your current probation officer and request to receive a new one in the state you're moving to and that it was ok. I just needed a professional to answer my question.

Re: Relocating while on Probation
You can change states with the permission of your probation
officer (PO). Your PO will contact a PO in the state to which you
are moving and your probation will continue there.
This is usually contingent upon how you have performed while on
probation, whether you have failed to appear in court at any time in the
past and whether your PO believes you are a good risk for
completing your probation in the other state.
If you want me to represent you I charge $120 per hour for the
work I do and my telephone number is 208-345-3817

Transfers of probation are common. You may be required to completely pay off any fine amounts or fulfill any community service requirements before transfer, but all should be arrangeable through your current probation office. All the best,
