Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I am renting a storage room from a local business and it has been broken into
Where and what do i need to do to get compensation for the contents stolen
1 Answer from Attorneys
Hypothetically, I would say that unless your rental agreement with the local business owner states that compensation will be offered for loss and/or that he will provide protection for your contents and he did not or unless you have renter's insurance, you may have no claim for compensation but you can ask him for his business insurance policy to see if your contents are covered, and if so, ask him to file a claim.
I would seek and obtain your own renter's insurance policy now, and for future incidents.
If you want to pursue this, you will need to take your rental agreement and a copy of the businesses insurance policy to a tenant lawyer to review.
