Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Is it required in the state of Texas that if my apartment gets broken into and I plan on shooting the burgaler, that I have to shoot to kill? Can i not just shoot him in the knee or shoulder and call the cops to come get him?

Using a gun this way is called "deadly force," and it doesn't matter if you planned to "shoot him in the shoulder" or to kill him. If you're entltled to use deadly force, and you NEED to use deadly force, you're a fool if you try to "shoot him in the knee."
