Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

resticted contact

can a court disallow someone from having any contact with another person? i was caught shoplifting with my boyfriend and as a part of his probation we aren't allowed to have any contact for a year, if we do so he will be in violation of his parole, I'm 17 and he's 18. is there anything we can do to fight this?

Yes. The court can make "no-contact" a condition of your probation. There may be constitutional limitations upon no-contact orders, but you would need to challenge such an order in habeas corpus. My advice is to consult with a qualified criminal defense attorney about this issue.
