Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

What are my rights regarding an adult male neighbor grabbing my 17 year old son around the collar? Cursing threats at him because he thought he pointed an air soft gun at his son, which of course he was mistaken; it was a friend of my sons. The police which my neighbor called seemed to only back up my neighbor because my son did not stop his friend by calling the police in the first place. Besides living next to an ass, what legal options are available? Either the police were saying one thing to me, and another thing to my neighbor, I feel like this is totally wrong. What are my options?

It sounds like your neighbor committed the crime of assault when he grabbed your son. If it hurt, the assault could be charged with assault bodily injury, which is a class A misdemeanor. However, if your son was pointing a weapon at someone, he may have the offense of defense of another. Suggest you make a police report or call your local district attorney's office.
