Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
rights of citizens
When I was young my Dad was taken in for questioning. He was informed that he wasn't in any trouble. My Dad knew very little English and was told to sign a statement. They made him read the first three words which were ''I'' and his name and then they said that was good enough and that he could read and to sign. A coupl days later hew was arrested. He had signed a confession saying he committed a crime that he didn't. My question is were his 4th and 5th amendments rights violated?
