The District Attorney has the final say over the acceptance of all criminal charges, if any. And whether they will present felony criminal charges to a Grand Jury for indictment. The District Attorney is also invested with the power and duty to prosecute all criminal cases, unless you are in a county where the county attorney's office prosecutes misdemeanor cases. In that case, they have the duty to prosecute criminal misdemeanor cases.
