Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Scared for my safety please help

Hi , Iam having to be a witness in a trial against a former friend that commited insurance fraud mark'd down to a high misdemeanor. I found out from my lawyer that he was indicted the 28th of june i have no contact with him . It is the 6th and i still dont think he has been arrested or notified of it yet. How long does it take for the process for them to know there indicted ? Iam afraid of my safety and would like to know . Also would they be arrested right away after the indictment ? How would they contact them to tell them they were or would they just be arrested ?

Thank You

Usually a person is arrested before indictment. If not, when the person is indicted then a warrant is issued for their arrest. The best way for you to find out the answers to your questions is to contact the district attorney's office prosecuting your former friend.

If the defendant has not been arrested, there is a good chance he does not know he is indicted. The state would likely issue a warrant for his arrest. The time to arrest really varies. Some departments are real good about going out and arresting folks with warrants, others are not. I have had clients with warrants out for their arrest for 5 years and they never knew about them, then one day they get stopped for a traffic ticket and the cop arrests them for the warrant.
