Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Hello, my name is Scott.
One year ago I rented some whitewater river equipment to a fellow. He lost $1600 worth of
gear and still has not paid one cent of the rental fee ($600). Can I legally press any criminal charges
against him, such as theft of service or other. He has skipped town (run off).

No, this is not a criminal matter. This would be a civil matter. You need to talk to a lawyer ASAP before your statute of limitations to sue him runs out.
