Do police have a right to search a safe, which is out of site, if it is not listed as an item on the warrant?

Maybe. The wording of the warrant will probably be critical. If the safe was not specifically listed, but was in the location covered by the warrant, and the contents of the safe could reasonably contain the items listed in the warrant, then the search might be valid.
