Re: sentencing concerns

Dear LawGuru Friend,

First of all, she should pay back any money that anybody lost as a result of her criminal acts. Secondly, she should not rush in to plead guilty and get sentenced. Thirly, after she has paid back the money, she should seek to have the D.A. put her on a Pre-Trial Diverson, so that she does not have to ever plead guilty to the charge. A conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude, even for a misdemeanor, is bad news! Feel free to call me to discuss this. No charge for just talking. Same for her. She too can call me to discuss this. Again, don't get in a hurry to plead guilty and get sentenced. Of course, the gal has a problem, thinking she can take someone else's credit card and use it for her own benefit without permission. She needs some counseling to convince her it is not morally right to steal, however it is done, lest she have the same problem over and over in the future. There is more to it all than this, but this is something to think about. Good luck to both of you!

Sincerely,

Hardy Parkerson, Atty.
