Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Shoplifting accusation by phone
I was in my car getting ready to move when I saw a man with a cap by my window, holding up a hand, I thought I was going to be carjacked, I quickly moved off, this guy jump on the mirror outside and when I moved he let go. Yesterday, 1 month later, an officer called, asking for my husband, the car, who drives it, who was driving on that day. I asked why the questions, he said the driver hit a store security guy who was trying to approah her for shoplifting, she was on video in the store, she was wearing a hat, etc. they would come to my house to get a fingerprint, I told him several people drive the car which was not true, just two but I wanted to find out more. I had gone to JCpenney, Plano to return a blouse and to look for something else, I took several items, I had the JCP bag I brought in with me. I went into the fitting room, tried on clothes, back and forth & I left everything but a pair of pants, returned the blouse, paid, went to bathroom, left and got into my car. Then I saw the guy. I had on a top, blazer & coat but I put the blazer in my plastic bag since I was hot, wore my top &coat, Could they have seen into the fitting room with a camera, can they arrest now, and for what crime? They don't know the driver.

Re: Shoplifting accusation by phone
Do not have any more conversations with the police. Hire a lawyer. If they contact you again, refer them to your attorney. They may have a complaint for theft and for assault.
