Theft under $500 is a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in the county jail.

This is considered theft. At that dollar amount, it is a Class B misdemeanor. The range of punishment is up to 6 months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
If guilty, and with little criminal record, likely outcome is some type of probation.
