The two counts of Burglary of a Habitation are 2nd degree felonies, unless there was intent or attempt to commit a felony other than felony theft. Then it is a 1st degree felony. Possession of the drug is a Class A Misdemeanor.

The range of punishment for a Class A Misdemeanor is jail for not more than one year and/or fine not to exceed $4000.00. A second degree felony is prison for 2 - 20 years; a fine of up to $10,000 can be assessed. A first degree felony is prison for life or any term between 5 and 99 years; and a fine of up to $10,000.00 years can be assessed.

None of that information however, indicates what can or will happen in your son's case. There are a complex number of options that can result. Retain a lawyer for him as soon as possible.
