Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
my son got caught shoplifting at a a local K-mart. Item was worth $4.99. Since we where with him at
time of incident, the security guards let him go and we had to sign a letter of conscent stating that
he was not to return back to the store. 2 weeks later a law firm send s a letter wanting money? To me
it looks like a scam. Do we need to pay? What are the consequences if we do not pay?

Ignore the letter from the lawyer. Don't accept any phone calls either - don't talk to anybody who calls about this.
