Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

my son was really sick in the end of jan. i ended up making an appointment for him one morning and was told to be there in like 30 min. i didnt have much time to get ready. he was running high fevers and had a little trouble breathing. so i rushed over there. after his appointment i was supposed to take him to the childrens hospital for blood work. but he was running out of diapers in his diaper bag. so i had to swing by the navy exchange. while i was there i was going to get some hygene items (brush, deodorant, makeup, tooth brush heads...). and a couple of other things i needed so i wouldnt be out all day. my son didnt fit in the shopping cart and i didnt have many places to put anything. all the large items like the diapers i put at my sons feet. i started to put the smaller things in there too but he kept trying to put them in his mouth. so i ended up putting them in the folding hood to the stroller. i was texting my husband (deployed) because we have been having alot of arguments. and my mind was in a million places. i went to pay for everything but forgot all the small items in the hood. by the time i realized what had happened there were 2 undercover officers that stopped me. i told them what was going on and immediately offered to pay. he said it was too late and i ended up getting arrested. i just received a court date scheduled for march to appear in a magistrates court. however i will already be in north carolina. husband is stationed there and will be returning from deployment by june so i already have a house there. i also have no idea what to expect or what to do at this point. any help is welcome.

The best advice for you to avoid just having to plead guilty is to hire an attorney. You may have to return to the court from North Carolina, but your attorney may be able to negotiate something on your behalf without your presence. Good luck.
