Your son may be tried as an adult if he is 17 or younger and qualifies as an adult under certain circumstances. If your son is pending criminal charges, you should contact a law firm for assistance. If he is younger than 17, he can be tried as an adult if he meets certain criteria under the juvenile justice provisions of the family code. Primarily age, nature of the offense, mental and social and emotional abilities of the child. Read Section 54.02 (Title 3) of th Family Code.
