Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
How can I go about getting a state jail sentence reduced. I came across a motion for reduction of state jail sentence and want to know if this is a ligitimate way to submit a motion to the court, or how I do go about filing this motion.

This depends. State jail offenses MAY be punished as a class A misdemeanor under section 12.44 of the penal code. If the prosecutor agrees this is usually not a problem. If not, you can still file a motion. However if this was a plea bargain, you may have a harder time. You should contact the attorney who represented the defendant to file a motion under the statute.
Good Luck
