If you go to trial and are found guilty, then you have the right to a court appointed lawyer on appeal (assuming you had one at trial.) If you plead guilty with a plea bargain, then you do not have the right to an appeal or a court appointed lawyer. If you plead guilty without a plea bargain and don't waive your right to appeal, then you are entitled to an appointed lawyer but the only issue is whether the sentence is within the range of punishment (assuming there were no pre-trial issues raised.) Also, whether you are entitled to a court appointed lawyer on appeal turns on whether you are still indigent.
