stating you have a college degree

is it legal to state that you have a college degree and if not, is there anything the college or employment can do to you if you claim to have one?

Re: stating you have a college degree

Stating that you have obtained something that you do not have, such as a college degree, may have detrimental effects upon the person who made such a statement. In Texas, employment is "AT WILL." That simply means at the will of the employer or at the will of the employee. Therefore, someone saying they have a college degree, when in fact they do not have a college degree could cause an employer to terminate that individuals employment.
