Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Statue of Limitations Arrest Warrent
Recently I ran into an old friend who told me that the last time he talked to my exhusband, later one of the two told him there was a warrant out for my arrest in Texas on a check written for a downpayment of $1000 for a car bought in my exhusbands name, but I signed the check. Apparently he never cover the funds after and the check bounced. We seperated and he had the car repossesed.
My questions, if there was a warrant issued in guessing must have been about 1993, is there a statue of limitations on a misd. warrant for a hot check? Is this warrant if indeed there is one, still active and if so how can I find out if it really excists.

Re: Statue of Limitations Arrest Warrent
Dear ?,
The statute of limitations stops running when a warrant is issued. There is no time limit on the execution of a warrant. So if it was issued, it can still be executed against you. The only way to find out if it was issued is to call the county court in TX where it was filed and ask the clerk.
