statute of limitations warrants

i have read that a statute of limitations does not apply if a person leaves the country or state...BUT DOES A COURT HAVE TO PROVE I LEFT? just because they cant find me doesn't mean i left.

The burden is on the State to show due diligence in the execution of the warrant.
