My step son's in trouble

He's gotten involved with another

boy in a shop lift/theft of 15-20

He sold them to another business

Re: My step son's in trouble

Theft under $50 is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine only. The next degree of theft is punishable by jail time or probation and/or a fine.

Your son needs to hire an attorney to handle his case.

Re: My step son's in trouble

Combined, your step son is likely looking at either a Class B or Class A misdemeanor. The level of theft charged is dependent on the amount of money or value taken.

A class B misdemeanor carries a maximum punishment of 180 days in jail and $2k fine. Class A bumps up to a year in jail and $4k fine max. While getting the max is unlikely, those are the ranges of punishment.

I would say that your step son has gotten himself into a little bit of trouble.
