Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

what is my next step ? or do i have one ?

i am a 43 yr. old , white, male who worked for 15 years for the texas dep't of criminal justice- parole div. i left the agency in august '04 to persue other interests. before i was arrested in august,'05 and again in nov. '05. and the total of charges from both arrest are: poss. c/s. u/ 2 oz.,poss. drug para. poss. of dang. drugs x 3.{prescriptions that were mine}. and finally at the nov. 05 arrest , i was charged with poss. controlled subst.0.012 oz. i believe. i have never been arrested for anything in my life before this. my girlfried even wrote out a long statement of the fact that she knew the guys from high school and never imagined they would have left illegal drugs in my vehicle. after the first arrest, i just took it for granted that the officers found all of those type things that were in there. there were more that the first arrest officers overlooked. charged with state jail felony . att. is now telling me that a deferred probation or if i attend some expensive in depth drug treatment program will be the only way to get the charges dismissed so that i may be able to secure a good job somewhere. what should i do at this point ?

Am guessing that you wrote this question, because you are second-guessing whatever decision you have already made. You have an attorney, that I can presume has given you solid advice. You have 15 years working in the criminal justice system, so you know what kind of chances you are taking. This is not something that a stranger can answer. You have to evaluate the evidence against you and roll the dice, or take the safer route.

But then you already knew that.
