Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Stole from family member
I made a huge mistake. I had keys to the house & stole jewelry. Probably totally around $2000 or so.
If they press charges, what would be the crime?
It's my first offense.

Theft of an item with a value over $1500 is a third degree felony. Depending on the circumstances under which you acquired the keys to the premises you could be facing additional more serious charges.
