Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Being sued by Wal Mart
Wal Mart is sueing me for $275 for attempting to shoplift a hair product which cost under $10 in price. They did not capture me camera, I believe they stopped me only on susspesion. The female that had been with me that night had in fact stollen the product without my knowing. I had offered to pay for the product, but they declined informing me nothing was to happen. No police were called and they said no legal action was to be taken because I had not damaged the merchandise. After they got our info they said we could still shop there and everything. Two months later i got a letter from their attorneys, I was being sued for shoplifting and damages to the product. What should i do? Is this legal?

Re: Being sued by Wal Mart
These are your options:
Hire an attorney to advise you on the lawsuit.
Walmart must prove that you stole the product and that it was damaged.
Do nothing and allow Wal-mart to get a default judgment against you.
Pay them off.
