Texas convicted sex offender
My young family member was a victim of a sexual offense. I believe the charge was indecency with a child which is a 3rd degree felony in Texas. It carries as part of the punishment registering as a sex offender. The assistant D.A. said that they are going with 10 years deferred probation and the registering. I asked the assistant D.A. if this means he will have to register for life as a sex offender OR just for the length of his probation? The assistand D.A. said he honestly did not know. Can someone please advise me? Also, what are the provisions of registering as a sex offender in Texas? What will he not be allowed to do? Any assistance is kindly appreciated!
