Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Text Message/Suicide

My daughter's boyfriend texted her

and called her a cunt and told her to

kill herself and everyone would be

better off. She texted him back and

asked him what pills to take. He told

her ambien and lots of muscle

relaxers. She almost died. Do we

have any rights to a civil and/or

criminal suit against him? By the

way, she is 17 and he is 18. We live

in Texas.

Honestly, it is hard to say. This is a vague and nebulous area of the law. You should start by saving the messages, taking it to intake at your police department, and find out what their response is. Next, consult with an attorney, and pay the attorney for a couple hours of research time. Good luck.
