Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
theft
I allowed my niece and her boyfriend to use my Gordon's Jewelers credit card to purchase a wedding ring set. They had said they'd pay it off when they got their tax refund. They didn't do that, but then said they would make the monthly payments on it, which they did for a few months. They are now refusing to pay anything. I asked for the rings so that I could try to sell them to offset some of the $1,044 still owed on my credit account, and they said they have pawned them. Can I file theft charges against them?

Re: theft
No you can't, as they have not taken from you without your permission. You can however, sue them for the balance on the account.
