Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

theft of a part

I was accussed of committing theft.

I want know how to find out,or how I will find out if there are charges against me.

I test drove a car on a Tues. and the dealer called me the next day saying I had stole a part out of the car on the test drive. I went down to the dealer, to discuss the situation with them. They said I stole a part valued at $475-750 depending on the dealer you go through to get the part. They told me they wanted the part back and they would leave me alone. I don,t know if I can believe this. I let one of the salesmen pull the same part they needed from my car. The whole time they are asking me to admit to taking the part. I would not admit to something I did not do. At no time was a officer of the law there. Though they kept telling me they were on the way.

1. They say they have me on tape getting into the car to drive it

2. Of course my fingerprints are everywhere in the car from looking at it.

3. I own the same model car

4. The sales man said he had driven the car 2 days prior and that the part was there.

5. when it was all said and done the salesman said it was in my best intrest to leave before the cops showed up.

6. I have no priors, and tons of people that know I did not need this part for my car

Re: theft of a part

You should not discuss this situation again, at all, with anyone except a criminal defense lawyer. A lawyer can make inquiries that you cannot and should not make. At this point it is impossible to know what is true or not, in their representations to you.
