Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Theft of Service
My friend has a tv from rentacenter that she fell behind on payments and she they keep telling her that if she doesn--name removed--return the tv she will be charged with theft of services what does that mean and what is the punishment. she did pay about $1k on the merchandise and plans to pay more

It is not theft, as long as she stays in contact, and they have notice of the location of the television. She either needs to return the TV, wherein she will have no further obligation to them, or she needs to pay up the balance owed to satisfy them.
