Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

theift

In the state of Texas, (Ft. Bend County) can a person be prosecuted for taking a package delivered by UPS, from the porch of my home? Then a self admission (admitting that they took the package) on the part of the thief. If so what punishment could be handed to a person on probation for domestic violence? How long do I have to call the authorities if we choose to do so? Thank you in advance

Re: theift

Based on what you have stated, a person can be criminally charged by the District Attorneys ("DA") Office in Ft. Bend County for theft. You should report the theft to the DA's Office. The decision of prosecuting the alleged criminal act will be up to the DA's Office. If my law firm can assist you with this legal issue or any other legal matter, please contact my legal assistant Jennifer ([email protected]).

Re: theft/probation violation

First, this is a theft and for a charge to come of this, you will have to contact your local law enforcement; either the police or the sheriffs department. After you make a complaint to them a warrant can be issued for his arrest and he will be arrested. At that point it will be up to the District Attorneys to file these charges in Court. Additionally, his probation can be revoked for having committing a new offense in violation of his probation.
