my son pawned a riding lawn mower witch belonged to owner of house, hewent and tried to get it back after he got the money but was sold. he is charged with thieft of 1,500. what is the max sentence

Hello there,

The case at hand is what is qualified as a state jail felony in Texas. It has a punishment range any where from six months to two years in a state jail facility.

However, if your son has multiple thefts they can enhance the punishment range even higher.

Here in Smith County one individual received seventeen years for stealing a candy bar due to his lengthy record or thefts.
