Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Hi, I want to throw a holiday party for me and my college friends this week in Texas. Most of us are 21 but inevitably people underage people would show up. I was wondering if I hire a bouncer to check ID's and give wristbands to people over 21, and tell those people that only they can drink. Would I still be liable to furnishing alcohol to minors if anyone drinks, or someone overage gives a drink to an underage person?
1 Answer from Attorneys
If anyone underage is provided alcohol at your party, even if you had someone check their ID and age and provided a wrist-band, and if the police are called and they find that someone underage was provided alcohol, then, yes, you would be liable and possibly charged with a crime.
