Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

i need help

i was told on the day i was arrested that i would be provied with a court appointed lawyer but when i went to my court date i was told to hire a lawyer. is it too late or can i still be provided with a court appointed lawyer and where can i go to get information?

Court-appointed attorneys are provided only when you establish you cannot afford one. Some courts will change their mind and appoint an attorney for you, if you go back to the coordinator, showing you have had contact with three attorneys and you are unable to retain them. Most judges know that many attorneys will work on a limited retainer, followed by payments.
