Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Unfair Arrest

Recently my father was arrested and although he asked the officers several times as to why he was being arrested, they never answered him. I understand that they can't keep a person in jail without filling charges against them for more than 24 hrs., is this true? and if they don't let him go after 24 hrs what are we supposed to do? also, we refuse to pay a bail when it was the police officer's fault for arresting him with no evidence of anything. What can we do now?

Re: Unfair Arrest

Well, first of all, you don't know if they have evidence of anything, since they aren't sharing any information with you or him. He has to be taken before a magistrate and arraigned and/or bond set. If that hasn't happened yet, hire a lawyer immediately. If it has, then he knows what he is charged with, and still needs a lawyer.
