Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Unlawful entry
I am a retail security person and while at work we had a case involving theft from a vendor. We notified the police and they responded and took the Subject. The subject had come to work in his POV (Privatetly Owned Vehicle). The subject was arrested and taken away by the police and his vehicle was left in our parking lot. At the time I did not know if this was his vehicle, so I looked through the windows in order to see if I could see something that had his name on it, but could not. The vehicles doors were all unlocked so I opened the door and looked at picture that was in the vehicle and saw the subject in the picture, thus identifing that it was his vehicle. While I was trying identify the vehicle as the subjects, a fellow employee (Non security)calls the police and tells them that I have searched a vehicle illeagally. In turn the legal office says that I commited unlawful entry into this Vehicle. Is this correct?

Re: Unlawful entry
There are so many questions that need to be answered before an accurate statement can be made on your case. If you are facing criminal charges or are being asked to come in for questioning, I would consult an attorney in your area. He or she would be able to go into depth on your case. Good luck to you.
