warrants

the police came to my house looking for my son because he has warrants. The officer asked me if he could come in to the house to look for my son even though I told him my son was not at home. do I have the right to say no to the officer I live at El Paso Tx.

Hello there,

This is a tricky question that needs to be addressed.

First, there is a valid warrant for your son.

Second, you are harboring a fugitive from justice by not cooperating with law enforcement and hiding him.

However, the police must have a warrant to come into your house before they can arrest your son so if they don't have the warrant for your house as well they can't come in and you must tell them the can't come in because this is your house and they can't come in without a warrant.

What will probably happen they is that they will go to their favorite judge and have them sign a warrant to enter your house because they saw your son in the house.
