If the witness goes to see the defendant in jail before trial can the case be dismised?

No. There is nothing wrong with a defendant and a witness speaking as long as there is no tampering going on.

I would like to add, however, that it is rarely a good idea for a defendant to speak about their case with anyone other than their lawyer.
