I work in long term nursing. I was taking care of a man. His ring came up missing and accused me. I gave my statement to the police. Now they want me to take a lie dector test. Should I take the test?

No.
This happens all the time (I had a case myself where a young girl was accused of theft). Tell the police that a polygraph is snake oil; it isn't scientific, and the Courts don't recognize the results as evidence.
