Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Do i have anything to worry about?
Late friday nite i was at home lying on my couch watching tv, a person who i have known since i was a kid who is a convicted felon recently released from parole after serving 8&1/2 years in prison for aggrivated assault on a police officer)pulled up in front of my home after driving up and down the street several times then continously calling my phone, i answered after ignoring 5 calls while on the phone he pulled up with the lights off.Make a long story short I step outside and ask whats up?we had a verbal confrontation he pulled a pistol out and let off two rounds i returned fire as he countinued to shoot as he drove off. I called the police they came out and took my statement, I told them everything except the fact that i returned fire. I wasnt trying to lye to them but i was still in shock of what just happened. I was just trying to protect my home, wife and 4 children who where inside asleep at the time. I am not a convicted felon nor do have a lincense to carry a fire arm. I am trying to find out if i was in the wrong? What should i do? Do i need to hire an attorney?

Well, naturally, it s better to be truthful in your communications with the authorities, if you are going to communicate with them at all.
That having been said, you may wish to consult with an attorney. You can have a no-charge consultation with most criminal attorneys, myslef included. My contact information is available at my website, www.righttoremainsilent.net
