Discrimination in the workplace

Question: A Sr. Management employee made a racial remark to me after the incident it was introduced to HR department I was continuously harrassed to quit on my own. When I did not they said the company decided to lay off employees in the office. I was laid off along with 4 people of color the following week individuals were hired in the place of us which were not of color. EEOC is investigating my case. I need to know do I have a case to pursue this further with a lawyer?

Based on the facts presented, you may have a case and a lawyer could help you understand your rights and advise you during the EEOC investigation. While a lawyer could be helpful, one is not necessary during the EEOC investigative process. When the EEOC concludes its investigation, however, and especially if the resolution is not satisfactory to you, you should certainly seek legal advice. You will be provided 90 days within which to institute a lawsuit. You should consult with a lawyer early in that time frame to understand your legal rights and to decide whether to pursue litigation.
