Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Texas

University gender discimination

I attend a woman's university and I am the only female left in my area. The professor in charge continually ''forgets'' to inform me of meetings and other matters while other males students know about them. In the past (for the past 3 years), several comments have been made about women and I have complained, as well as former female students, but nothing has been done. Recently, the professor has changed his mind about going to a conference (chose flying instead of driving as we had agreed upon in May); all the males students are approved by him to have their way paid for while I did not know about the change and had registered for the conference waiting for the info on the trip. No attempt to contact me was made whatsoever. Are there any specific laws and recourse for this type of behavior? I am a doctoral student and anxious about consequences relating to me degree.

Re: University gender discimination

Yes. It appears to be a pattern of gender-based discrimination. You should consult with an attorney familiar with both Title VII and Title IX issues, and one who has experience in dealing with universities and colleges.
