Legal Question in DUI Law in Texas

So difficult to obtain my driver's license

I had a DUI in 1989 in Illinois, and I haven't had any offense eversince, and though it's been many years I still can't get my driver's license, I live in Jefferson county, Tx and when I went to obtain a driver's license they said you had a DUI in 89 and you have to have clearance, I need to get a lisence so I could drive to work, and I need to know is there a statue of limitation because I have been sober eversince and I can't get any help from Illinois, and in the county I reside in currently they won't issue a lisence to me because of the DUI in 1980. please advise me.

sincerely,

Bob

Re: So difficult to obtain my driver's license

Based on what you have stated, things do not sound correct. Generally and assuming that this was a first offense, your drivers license may be suspended for a short time period. Typically, a drivers license is not suspended for 18 years on a first offense. My law firm would require more case specifc facts in order to be able to assist you and potentially provide you with opinions of how to proceed. If my law firm can assist you with this legal issue or any other legal matter, please contact my legal assistant Jennifer ([email protected]).
